The Audio Apes hail from Chicago, a city that is no stranger to the headlines. Often referred to as Chiraq these days, the Audio Apes are changing the face and sound of the city in a unique style. With no illusions about the city they come from and never glorifying it's current state, K. Cartoon, Rx Phonics and D.C. The Great spit with a very real world perspective. Three friends with a passion for music coming from different parts of the city and diverse backgrounds. K. Cartoon and Rx Phonics were raised in the gang infested lower middle class neighborhood of Gage Park, while D.C. The Great is from the Lawndale Community on Chicago's West Side. Meeting at the Chicago Military Academy in Bronzeville, a high school for wayward teens, the guys got together to do something better for each other and as a collective.
Each member of the Audio Apes make Hip Hop a part of their daily lives, creating music that is real to themselves and the city. This came together naturally on "Big Faces," the first song the group recorded off their "Concrete Jungle" EP. "Big Faces" captures the inspirational message of big dreaming in a big city and instead of the youth becoming products of their environments they make their environment products of them. With the backdrop being the beat produced by Team A.I. out of Cleveland, the Audio Apes set the " Big Faces" uptempo stage with hot lyrics, intense build up and a clear message. "Big Faces" is sure to inspire and have Hip-Hop heads nodding and bouncing to it. Be sure to catch the Audio Apes on a stage near you in early 2016 and much more coming from the guys on their 'Concrete Jungle' mixtape at the top of the New Year!
